SAT vs. ACT Reading: Pacing and Time Management

Parents, effective pacing and time management are crucial skills for success in both the SAT and ACT reading sections. At Peak Learning Solutions, we recognize the significance of optimizing your child's performance in these exams.

In the SAT Reading section, your child will have 65 minutes to complete 52 questions. This equates to an average of 75 seconds per question. To ensure your child maintains a steady pace, our teachers (we call ourselves teachers because we are all teachers first unlike most tutors and tutoring organizations) will guide them to allocate approximately 13 minutes per passage. By adhering to this timing, they will have enough time to read the passage carefully and answer the corresponding questions.

The ACT Reading section, on the other hand, allows 35 minutes for 40 questions, which gives your child an average of 52.5 seconds per question. Our teachers (we call ourselves teachers because we are all teachers first unlike most tutors and tutoring organizations) will train your child to read each passage efficiently while identifying main ideas, supporting details, and key arguments. We will also help them develop strategies to approach specific question types within the given time constraints.
