Miriam graduated from UNCW in May 2018 with her M.A. in Spanish. She received both her B.A. and M.A. from UNCW in Spanish and during her undergraduate career also received a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Within her four years at UNCW, Miriam worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Spanish Conversation Center at UNCW, a Learning Service Tutor in both Spanish and English at the University Learning Center, and as an online tutor for non-traditional nursing students at UNCW. Miriam has also helped students study and prep for AP English Language and AP English Literature exams through private tutoring. She works with students to improve their critical thinking and reading skills as they analyze literature and write essays.
Miriam has spent significant time abroad as well, which has enabled her to speak Spanish more fluently as she immersed herself in different hispanic cultures. This past summer Miriam worked as a Spanish Instructor for Broadreach while traveling through Ecuador for two months. During the Fall 2017 semester, Miriam studied abroad in Spain and learned how to master the classic Spaniard vosotros/as. Miriam’s passion for language is what inspires her to work with students in Spanish. She loves hispanic culture and language and loves sharing her language skills and interests with students who are attempting to master the language. She wants to empower her students to be the best students they can be!
